The Orca Awareness Project
A girl meets an orca in captivity and comes to the realization that she too, needs to be free. Orcas are the largest of the dolphins, and they live in large pods or family groups of up to 40 individuals. Even though the world’s oldest known living orca is 103 years old, the Whale and Dolphin Conservation project estimate that whales born in captivity only live to 4.5 years old, on average.
This short film was created by Joey Cheers, Teon Simmons, & Fishy Thom and was honored with First Place in the animation category from The Art Institutes International Minnesota’s annual film festival, Blockhead. (2014)
